During 2003, the Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices was introduced through the united efforts of the Wine Institute and the California Association of Winegrape Growers. This program seeks to establish voluntary high standards of sustainable practices to be followed and maintained by the entire wine community. The Code of Sustainable Winegrowing Practices will promote farming and winemaking practices that are sensitive to the environment, responsive to the needs and interests of society at large, and are economically feasible.
The Bennett Valley Grape Growers support this program and will continue to implement the recommended practices. Most of the vineyards within our small valley are owned by families who live on the property and as such, want to live in a safe environment. Our growers know that sustainable farming practices will keep the land healthy for generations to come.
